2010 China Blueberry Industrial Seminar& the 3rd Academic Annual Meeting of the Small Berry Branch of China Gardening Institute will be held on July 10th to 11th in Rushan city of Shandong province. This meeting is organized by the Small Berry Branch of China Gardening Institute, the Fruit Tree Institute of Shandong Agriculture Science Academy and the Rushan People’s Government.

It is reported that Chinese blueberry farming Industry has tremendously developed in recent 10 years as its nutrition value and economic benefits have been increasing recognized by people. The cultivating area is just 30 hectares in 2001, comparatively it reaches 3300 hectares in 2009. And the commercialized farming area has spread from Heilongjiang province to Yunnan, across ten provinces of China. It centralized in the provinces of Shandong, Liaoning, Zhejiang, Guizhou, Jilin and Heilongjiang. By 2009, China has over 100 companies engaging in blueberry farming, and the total farming area over 30,000 hectares. It is predicted that, it will reaches 100,000 farming hectares by the end of 2010 and the output will be over 10000 tons.

As the fast development of blueberry Industry, people have increasingly got to know it and knew more about it. So the new problems have been emerged.  Such as the problem of lagging creation of new varieties, the imperfect implementation of regional cultivating and its relevant cultivating technologies and the weaknesses of collecting, packaging, storage and transportation researches. Therefore, this meeting will have experience exchange activities which will center on the domestic blueberry development scale and premium area plan, premium blueberry plantlets and its relevant cultivating technologies, blueberry collecting, storage and processing technologies, safety issues of production, storage and marketing.
